As Cornell Researcher Dr. Krysten Schuler notes, New York State caught the disease and mitigated its spread aggressively. In 2005, CWD was discovered within New York in captive and wild deer in Oneida County. However, New York launched an operation to increase CWD testing and culling to be able to control the disease, protecting NY communities.
